Talinda Bennington 320 changes direction

An all-star lineup of rockers, including No Doubt and Fall Out Boy, as well as Slayer, Slipknot, Stone Sour Sum 41 Anthrax *NSYNC, the Offspring Steel Panther Limp Bizkit, will perform songs from the 80s at the Strange 1980s two concert, which takes place on October 12, at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. They’ll also be raising money for a great cause.

Charity Bomb show organizers have partnered up with 320 Changes Direction. This is a partnership between Talinda Bennington, widow of Chester Bennington, and the Campaign to Change Direction to change the perceptions about mental illness. They also offer resources to people in need. The concert coincides with the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Bennington told Billboard that he can “see a change in the conversation surrounding mental health” over the last year. “I notice a change in the people I meet on a daily basis. Their stories show how this campaign has opened them up and created a place for them to ask for help or provide support. Many things are happening to make it okay to talk about. “It’s just sad that we had to suffer the deaths of so many people to get to this stage.”

Chester Bennington, who admitted to struggling with depression, substance abuse, and suicide, died on July 20, 2017, at his Palos Verdes Estates home.

Talinda says that she has found it difficult to cope with the death of her husband without taking some action. “I’m in a better place now, where I have more comfort, understanding and clarity. In the beginning I was just putting one step in front of another. Bennington says, “Now I’m here,” in a PSA she did with her husband’s Linkin Park frontman Mike Shinoda for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. “I am doing the same thing as before, but now I can look back on the past year and see just how far the campaign has come. Strange 80s helps us reach more people. It was very generous of them to include us.

Gary Holt of Slayer and Exodus only met Bennington briefly and once. He’s glad to help out at Strange 80s 2 in any way he can. Holt says that the last two years have been terrible for rock ‘n’ rollers. He will be playing renditions of Journey’s ‘Separate Ways,’ Bryan Adams’ ‘Summer of ’69’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ and Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman.’ It’s not something to be ashamed of. “I’m fine with anything that we can do to raise money and bring awareness.”
